About Us

Our History

Couples & Family Therapy Collective was founded by Rana Khan, a highly trained and experienced couples and family therapist based in Toronto, Ontario. Rana serves as the Clinical Supervisor and Instructor in the Master of Relational Psychotherapy program at the University of Guelph, bringing a wealth of expertise to his work.

Rana’s vision for CFT Collective was to create a dedicated team of therapists who specialize in relationship therapy. What sets us apart is our focused expertise: every therapist on our team has advanced training in couples and family therapy, making us uniquely equipped to support clients through the challenges of relational dynamics.

Our Approach

At Couples & Family Therapy Collective, our therapeutic approach is rooted in the systemic family therapy model. That means we see the world in terms of relationships: your relationship to yourself, to your partner, to your community, and to the world.

We practice from a dialogic/narrative collaborative approach. This means that sessions are conversational. We are interested in learning more about the stories or dialogues that govern your life as well as exploring ways to change those stories or dialogues in a meaningful and practical way. This may involve being exploratory about recurring themes, communication patterns/styles, and areas of conflict.

Our associates have extensive experience in relationship dynamics, particularly intercultural, interracial and/or interreligious conflict.

We also believe that therapy should have an established focus and a goal that is being actively worked towards, which then leads to the end of therapy.
